Shingai Manjengwa

Shingai Manjengwa is the head of AI education at ChainML, a Toronto-based AI research and development company.

Shingai is a data scientist by profession with expertise in innovation, digital transformation and artificial intelligence.

Shingai is also the founder and past CEO of Fireside Analytics Inc., a data science education solutions company that develops customized programs that teach digital and AI literacy, data science, data privacy and computer programming to a variety of audiences, including policymakers, practitioners, high school learners and working professionals.

Previously, she led technical education at the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Toronto, where she translated advanced AI research into educational programming to drive responsible AI adoption and innovation in industry.

From 2020 to 2023, Shingai served on the advisory council for Accelerating AI in Healthcare, a program developed by the Michener Institute of Education at University Health Network and the Vector Institute to empower front-line healthcare workers with AI skills. She also served on the board of the Canada Institute on Governance.

Shingai’s book The Computer and the Cancelled Music Lessons teaches data science to kids from ages five to 12.

Shingai won PPF’s Emerging Leader award in 2020.

Shingai has a bachelor’s degree in commerce, focusing on economics, philosophy and politics, from the University of Cape Town, as well as a certificate in project management from the university. She has a master’s degree in business analytics from the NYU Stern School of Business.
