Robert Asselin

Robert Asselin is senior vice-president, policy at the Business Council of Canada.

Robert is a renowned authority on economic and fiscal policy and a past policy advisor to Prime Ministers Paul Martin and Justin Trudeau.

From 2017 to 2020, Robert was senior global director, public policy at BlackBerry.

He was policy and budget director to Canada’s finance minister from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, he was the associate director of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa from 2007 to 2015.

Robert was appointed senior fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto in 2017. In 2014, he was a visiting public policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C.

Robert is an advisor to the U.S. Information Technology and Innovation Foundation and has served on the boards of CIVIX and Institut Donald J. Savoie.

Robert joined PPF as a Fellow in 2017.
