Drew Fagan

Drew Fagan is a professor at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto and a senior advisor at McMillan Vantage Policy Group.

Drew is known for his rich and varied policy expertise, providing strategic counsel to organizations in infrastructure, transportation, technology, higher education and natural resources.

Drew’s career spans a range of senior public service roles at the provincial and federal levels of government. Drew capped off seven years with the Government of Ontario as deputy minister of tourism, culture and sport, with responsibility for the 2015 Pan American Games and Parapan American Games.

His prior roles for the province include turns as deputy minister of minister of infrastructure and deputy minister responsible for seniors. At the federal level, he was assistant deputy minister for strategic policy and planning at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (now Global Affairs Canada).

Before his public service career, Drew spent more than a decade at The Globe and Mail, where he was at various times parliamentary bureau chief, associate editor of the Report on Business, and Washington correspondent.

Drew is an active contributor to several boards. He currently acts as a director on the boards of Waterfront Toronto, Palette Skills and the Blue Mountain Film Festival, and is also a trustee for the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.

Drew holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University and a master’s degree from Western University. He also holds the ICD.D designation issued by the Institute of Corporate Directors.
