Don Wright

Don Wright is a semi-retired public- and private-sector executive who is currently senior counsel for government relations and strategic communications firm Global Public Affairs.

Don is an active and respected contributor to national public policy and economic discussions.

Don worked for the Government of British Columbia from 2017 to 2020, where he was deputy minister to the premier, cabinet secretary and head of the public service. His previous government work includes secretary and deputy minister positions in the provincial governments of British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

Don’s non-government career includes terms as president and CEO of Central 1 Credit Union from 2014 to 2017, president of the British Columbia Institute of Technology from 2001 to 2013, principal of public- and private-sector advisory firm Analytica Consulting from 2003 to 2008, and vice-president of forest products company Weldwood of Canada from 1997 to 2001.

Don currently chairs the board of ALS Action Canada. He is also a past director of a number of corporate and not-for-profit boards, including World University Service of Canada and Covenant House.

Don holds a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan, a master’s degree in economics from the University of British Columbia and a doctorate in economics from Harvard University.

Don joined PPF as a Fellow in 2021.
