Open Government is a new movement whereby governments around the world are making their vast data holdings available to the public to use in the development of new knowledge products, to support more evidence-based decision-making, and to make government more transparent.
The Canadian Geomatics Community Round Table provides an innovative and timely example of how collaboration is moving the yardsticks on Open Government. The Round Table is a multi-stakeholder body whose members come from across the geomatics community. Geomatics is the discipline of gathering, storing, processing, and delivering geographic information.
This new publication from the Public Policy Forum highlights Natural Resources Canada’s role in Open Government in action, to engage, mobilize and facilitate collaboration across Canada’s geomatics sector.
