On this episode of WONK, host Amanda Lang talks to Kent Walker, the president of global affairs at Google, about AI, regulation and the tech giant's 'most fundamental transformation'

AI is often described as both a massive opportunity and a big threat — and for few companies is that more true than Google. The tech giant’s bread-and-butter business — web search — suddenly faces an uncertain future in the age of AI. While the company fights to remain one of the world’s big tech innovators, it is also fighting a rear-guard action on its search dominance with antitrust regulators in the U.S. and Europe, who claim it’s abused that dominance. In that context, Kent Walker has one of the most high-stake jobs in corporate America. He is the president of global affairs at Google and its parent Alphabet. He talks to host Amanda Lang about fending off anti-trust allegations, why Sergey Brin is coming back into the office and why Google faces the “most fundamental transformation” in its history.
