Janet Annesley is the chief sustainability officer at Kiwetinohk Energy Corp. (TSX: KEC), an energy transition company focused on the development of low- and no-carbon energy.
Janet is a nationally recognized authority on sustainability and strategy. She specializes in helping organizations adapt to 21st century business risks, develop opportunities and engage with their stakeholders. She is a former senior executive at one of Canada’s largest energy companies, and a former chief of staff to Canada’s minister of natural resources. She has led ESG, investor relations, policy and communications on some of the most complex energy business matters in the last decade.
She sits on the boards of the Transition Accelerator, the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and the City of Calgary’s Green Line LRT project. She is also a member of Export Development Canada’s ESG Advisory Council.
Janet is an award-winning, International Association of Business Communicators-accredited business communicator. In 2017, she was named to the Hill Times Top 100 list, which recognizes the most influential people in Canadian politics and government.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in applied communications and public relations from Mount Royal University and an MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University and a bachelor’s degree in applied communications and public relations from Mount Royal University.
