On Thursday, November 19, 2026, at 12:00 pm AT (11:00 am ET), join the Public Policy Forum (PPF) for a virtual member discussion of Navigating the Storm: 2026 Atlantic Canada Momentum Index.
The 2026 Index finds that while Atlantic Canada continues to demonstrate momentum across several key economic and social indicators, the region’s progress is slowing for the second consecutive year. With momentum evident in just 60% of indicators, down from 80% in 2023, the report highlights growing challenges related to immigration, labour productivity, investment, housing affordability and community belonging.
Against a backdrop of economic uncertainty, U.S. tariffs and shifting federal policies, the discussion will explore the report’s key findings, the opportunities and challenges shaping the region’s economic future, and what will be needed to navigate the road ahead.
Drawing on the report’s 10 recommendations, speakers will examine opportunities in mining, defence, energy and major infrastructure projects, the importance of a made-in-Atlantic Canada immigration strategy, and the need for stronger interprovincial collaboration to advance shared priorities.
Members will have an opportunity to hear directly from the report’s contributors Carole Lee Reinhardt and Colin Campbell, discuss the implications for Atlantic Canada and explore how governments, businesses and communities can work together to strengthen the region’s competitiveness and long-term prosperity.
